We boys regularly went out to eat together and one evening the plan was to go eat at Pipers Island – a boat / barge restaurant on the Thames a short walk from home. Dave wasn’t home and I got busy with something. So, Simon & Houtan went to eat there. All seemed okay, until there was a lot of frantic movement detected in the midst of the night. Houtan was busy occupying Paris while Simon was very green in Oslo. (BTW, Paris & Oslo were the two restrooms, Oslo being the one without heat). During their repeated rushes, “Ciao D. Prendergast the III” our resident cat got stepped on and she let out a big scream. (She had a habit of sleeping in the corridor where all the hot water pipes led to rest of the house.) As dawn broke, it became apparent that the cat was not well so I had three sick ones to take care of. Well obviously, the cat got taken to the vet first. Then Houtan & Simon were driven to the docs. All three survived the incident but Simon always reminded us that when they were poorly, the cat got priority. We also learnt to avoid Piper’s Island.
