Having worked incredibly hard to launch the AWRC accelerator, Simon had to turn the whole thing virtual at the last minute due to the pandemic. He managed this with such aplomb that you would never have known that it had initially been designed as a physical programme - apart from the fact that he loved having the AWRC building as his Zoom background (and never stopped going on about it). All of which just showed his immense passion and enthusiasm for the project. He was a brilliant leader of the accelerator and we will all miss him (and his pint glasses of squash, which were quirky and permanent companions in our virtual meetings). Robert Tansey
